Incorporated in 1981 as Water West Irrigation, American Pump has grown from a home run business to a recognized leader of customer service and quality products. Nathan Hancock & Val Brizzee started Water West Irrigation in Rexburg, Idaho with one pump rig and one crane. They were quickly recognized as honest, efficient, and dependable pump repairmen. In 1989, Nathan and Val separated the company and Nathan started American Pump.
Shortly after American Pump began, Nathan purchased a new building and opened a machine shop in Ucon, Idaho. After the unexpected death of Val Brizzee, American Pump purchased Water West Irrigation in 1990. American Pump has continued to grow with the addition of an electric motor rewind shop and pivot dealership.
American Pump is now a full-service irrigation dealer including pump, motor, and pivot sales, installation, and repair; and they have the equipment and knowledge to get the job done right. American Pump has six pump rigs and four cranes that can lift the deepest pumps in the valley. In addition, they have a wide variety of pump parts, column, tube, and shaft in stock and ready for you. They also keep over 100 reconditioned turbine motors ranging from 5hp to 600hp (horsepower) in stock for the quick replacement of failed motors.
American Pump is also current with new VFD technology. They sell and service the ABB drives. They can help you design a system that runs more efficiently and effectively to fit multiple pivots or corner arms. They will also work with your power company to help cost-share your improvements.
American Pump also sells and services house and community pumps. They can usually have your house pump fixed within less than 24 hours from the time you call. They are trained professionals for submersible pumps and constant pressure systems.
After many years of informally working together, in May of 2022, Thomas Drilling and American Pump formally combined forces and partnered together to form American Pump & Drilling. Thomas Drilling began operations in 1977 with drilling and pump work and together with American Pump, they bring a combined 85+ years of industry excellence with a goal to provide a more comprehensive service range and knowledge base while continuing to provide exceptional service to our communities in the greater Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming regions.

Purchased Ucon city buildings and property on the West side of the road from the City of Ucon.
Nathan and Teresa Hancock, the founders of American Pump Sold the business to Todd, Jacob, and Russ.
Purchased Airway Machine – A Local Machine Shop
Sold to Well Equipped
American Pump Acquired Thomas Drilling and Rebranded as American Pump & Drilling. The acquisition added Water Well Drilling operations and expanded the pump installation and support footprint into Western Wyoming.
